Victoire méritée des Bataves avec un bon mix entre le Milan AC, le PSV Eindhoven et les autres. Gullit a été exceptionnel durant toute la première mi-temps et surtout avant, durant et pendant la réalisation du premier but. Quant au but de Marco Van Basten, rien à rajouter si ce n'est l'un des plus beaux de tous les temps. Les Soviétiques ont été décevants encore une fois en ce qui concerne leur potentiel. Litovchenko et Belanov ont raté à peu près tout ce de qui leur était proposé jusqu'à un pénalty. Cependant MiKhaÏlenchenko est un super joueur qui ne sait pas encore qu'il va gagner les JO de Séoul....

Os soviéticos tentaram repetir a marcação alta que deu certo contra a Itália, só que o repertório ofensivo holandês era bem superior ao italiano, no fim poderia ter sido uma goleada da Holanda.
Olanda superiore tecnicamente, aveva giocatori di livello superiore (gullit, van basten, rijkaard, koeman). Titolo meritato.
