El partido es muy aburrido, pero merece destacar unas cuantas cosas. En la primera mitad, vemos un partido muy igualado en donde el Mónaco destaca por sus grandísimos jugadores, y el Odessa se zafa muy bien de los constantes movimientos arroba de Weah, Rui Barros y Ramón Díaz. Sorprende la salida de balón de un jovencísimo Emmanuel Petit central izquierdo (20 años). La 1ª parte acaba con dos ocasiones claras monegascas. Pareciera que el gol iba a caer, tarde o temprano, del lado francés. La 2ª parte tiene mi ha dureza, sobre todo por parte del Mónaco. Getsko es sustituido tras una fuerte entrada. Destacan varios jugador del Odessa que acabaron jugando en el Trabzionspor de Turquía, Hapoel Beer Sheva y BSVC Budapest.
