Partido aburridísimo. La imagen no es muy buena y ayuda poco que ambos equipos vistan pantalón blanco. La 1ª parte es aburrida, con cierto dominio del Flamengo (porque tenía mejores jugadores), pero sin grandes ocasiones, más allá de algunos tiros lejanos y un poderío físico del mejor jugador en el campo: Renato, 41 veces internacional con la canarinha. El inicio de la 2ª parte es un asedio del Flamengo, con Goias quizá más cansado. Y a los 16 minutos, cabezazo de Fernando a bocajarro al saque de una falta desde la izquierda de Djalminha: 1-0 hasta el final, sin nada más que destacar.
