Information

This was the last match in history between the national teams of Germany and the Soviet Union, although in the EURO 1992 draw they met in the same group, due to the political situation a few days after this draw, the latter (U.S.S.R.) was dissolved and the match of this EURO was Germany against the Commonwealth of Independent States. Likewise, it was the only match in history between a unified Germany and the Soviet Union since the previous ones were between West Germany and the Soviet Union and the later one, for the reasons mentioned above, was Germany vs C.E.I. Thomas Doll and Mathias Sammer participated in this match, players born and previously capped by East Germany.
