National Soccer League - AUS 1998-1999

Information

The NSL (National Soccer League) was the Australian top division prior to the A-League's introduction. It spanned 28 seasons from its inception in 1977 until its demise in 2004, when it was succeeded by the A-League, run by Football Federation Australia, the successor to the Australian Soccer Association, which was reconstituted in 2003. From 1984, the NSL was played in two stages consisting in a first round-robin regular season and the play-off stages, with the exception of 1987, when the two-conference system was discontinued. In case of draw, an extra time would be played after which, if the draw persisted, the title would be defined by a penalty shootout.
