La selección soviética demuestra su superioridad tácticamente, aunque Yugoslavia tiene jugadores de la talla de Suker, Mijatovic, Boksic, Mihajlovic o Djukic. La URSS es un bloque solvente y ordenado, con varios jugadores que ya eran titulares en la selección absoluta (algo que también ocurría con Yugoslavia). Se habla de generación perdida yugoslava, pero me temo que esa anarquía de jugadores que eran muy buenos individualmente, pero no hacían conjunto, es algo así como lo que ocurrió en la Bulgaria del 94, o Croacia del 98.
