Zico's last official match for Flamengo. Considered a godlike figure by the Flamengo fans, he was also known for his nicknames "Il Messia" ("The Messiah") and "Re di Udine" ("King of Udine") in Udine and "The White Pelé". He would later decide to play again as a professional player in Japan (Kashima Antlers) and would be idolized by an entire nation, labelled as "The God of Football" (サッカーの神様 Sakkā no Kamisama) and he was immortalized with 2 life-size statues in Kashima. Zico would accomplish in Japan something that Pelé couldn't in the USA: making football one of the country's most popular sports. In this match, Telê Santana's Fluminense featured good players like Donizete Oliveira (Cruzeiro legend) and Alexandre Torres (son of Carlos Alberto Torres, legendary captain of the 1970 Brazil), both played at least 1 match for Brazil's National Team, and Sílvio, who played the 1991 Copa América. The Tricolor also had Vítor, one of Telê Santana's favourite players in the 1980s. He was amidst controversies in 1981 because he was Andrade's reserve at Flamengo, but was a starter at the Seleção, Telê Santana was a target for a lot of criticism by the fans and the media because of that. Flamengo would play with Júnior (improvised as a central defender), Renato Gaúcho, Leonardo, Zinho, Zé Carlos and Botafogo's legend and 1986 WC All-Star Team, Josimar, as highlights. A "FlaFlu" is a great way to end a career.
